PRIVACY POLICY

Bat Madness is a baseball trading game rated 13+, played by teenagers and by the grown-ups who grew up on games like it. We built it to collect as little as possible, and we designed it so that younger players who do find it are protected too. Here is exactly what that means, in plain language.

Ages and online play

The whole single-player game — every park, every trade, every legendary bat — works with no account and no data collection at all, at any age.

Online features (teams and leaderboards) ask a neutral age question first. That question is answered on the device, and only the answer is kept — never a birth date. Players 13 and over continue straight into online play. Players under 13 need verifiable parental consent before anything is collected, as described below.

The short version

• Playing by yourself collects nothing about you. Your summer is saved only on your own device.
• There are no ads and no trackers. Our website counts visits anonymously (no cookies, no profiles — see "Website analytics" below). The iOS app contains no analytics at all.
• We never collect a child's name, photo, location, voice, or contacts.
• The only personal information we ever collect is a parent's email, and only if a family chooses to turn on online team features.
• We never sell or share personal information. Ever.

Solo play

The core game — traveling between parks, trading gear, playing pickup games, chasing legendary bats — runs entirely on your device. Your progress is stored locally in your browser or app. It never leaves your device, and we never see it.

Online team features (optional)

A family can choose to turn on online play so a child can join a team with friends. When they do:

• The child gets an anonymous account and a made-up username(like "DustyMustang42") generated from a word list. Children never type a username, team name, or any free text — so no personal information can be entered.
• Communication is limited to a few preset buttons("Play ball!", "Nice trade!"). There is no chat and no free text anywhere.
• Trades between teammates are structured (items and in-game seeds only) — never messages.

Parental consent (COPPA)

Before any online feature is available to a child, we require verifiable parental consent. A parent provides their email address, and we send them a link to approve. That parent email is the only email in our system. It is stored securely, is never readable by other players, and is used solely to obtain and record consent. A parent can withdraw consent and request deletion of all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

What we store for online play

• The generated username and anonymous account id.
• Team membership and in-game state (seeds, gear, scores).
• The parent's email, on a locked-down record, for consent only.

Data is hosted with Supabase, our database provider, under their security and privacy protections. We do not use advertising SDKs anywhere.

Website analytics

Our website counts page visits using Vercel Web Analytics so we know whether anyone is playing. It is deliberately the mildest kind of measurement there is:

• No cookies and no identifiers stored on the device.
• No profiles— we see aggregate counts ("120 people visited the game page"), never who anyone is, and visitors cannot be tracked across other sites.
• It is used solely to operate and improve the game — never for advertising, and the data is never sold or shared.
• The iOS app ships with zero analytics code. This applies to the website only.

Deleting your data

Email us and we will delete a child's account and all associated online data within 30 days. Solo play data lives only on the device and can be cleared by clearing the app or browser storage.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for any material change affecting children, seek fresh parental consent where required.
